Plan orientation and permanent marks

LPI ensures that plans lodged for registration comply with clauses set out in the Surveying Regulation 2006, particularly in relation to plan orientation and placing and/or connecting to survey marks. Surveyors should also take into account Direction No.7 of the Surveyor Generals Directions (PDF 149 kb).

Plans of survey prepared for lodgment in LPI must evidence the datum line adopted and all permanent and reference marks placed and/or connected to, as required by the Regulation.

Plan orientation wherever available, established Mapping Grid of Australia co-ordinates must be used to determine the bearing for the orientation of the survey.

Placement of marks a survey in an urban area must be connected by measurement to at least 2 permanent survey marks.
Exemptions by Surveyor General can be given to individual surveyors from compliance with any clause(s) of the Surveying Regulation 2006 for a particular survey.
