Consultation paper - Confirmation of identity
Recent un-commenced amendments to Real Property Act will require a mortgagee to verify the identity of a mortgagor and a witness to verify the identity of a person signing a land dealing where the witness has not known the signatory for more than 12 months.
The amendments are aimed at protecting land owners and reducing the likelihood of identity fraud.
